
UNSC passes Pakistan’s Resolution on ‘Conflict Peaceful solution’
NEW YORK: In a significant diplomatic achievement, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) unanimously adopted a resolution presented by Pakistan, aimed at strengthening mechanisms for the peaceful settlement of global disputes.
Titled “Strengthening the Means for Peaceful Resolution of Conflicts”, the resolution—numbered 2788 (2025)—was introduced by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister, Ishaq Dar. It emphasizes the importance of diplomatic dialogue, mediation, confidence-building measures, and both regional and international engagement in resolving conflicts peacefully.
The resolution urges UN member states to prioritize peaceful means of conflict resolution and take concrete steps to effectively implement relevant UNSC resolutions. It also calls on regional and sub-regional organizations to intensify their peace efforts and enhance cooperation with the United Nations.
Pakistan described the resolution’s adoption as a “milestone achievement,” highlighting its active role as a responsible member of the Security Council. The country reaffirmed its commitment to global peace and stability.
Experts believe this resolution will contribute positively to maintaining international and regional stability, reinforcing the use of diplomacy over confrontation.
