UN Secretary General strongly condemns attack on mosque in Pakistan

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has strongly condemned the attack on worshippers at a mosque in Islamabad, expressing concern over the continued targeting of civilians and places of worship.

Following the blast, the United States issued a new security alert for Pakistan, citing heightened security risks in the wake of the suicide attack in the capital. The U.S. State Department released a formal security advisory urging vigilance among American citizens residing in or traveling to the country.

According to the advisory, U.S. citizens have been advised to remain cautious and avoid public gatherings. The State Department also urged individuals to review and update their personal security plans and stay informed by closely monitoring local media for the latest developments.

The advisory further recommended that U.S. nationals carry proper identification documents at all times and cooperate fully with local security agencies. Emphasizing the evolving security situation, the State Department called for strict adherence to safety measures across Pakistan.

The incident has once again drawn international attention to security challenges in the region, with global leaders reiterating calls for the protection of civilians and religious sites.

Other world leaders also strongly condemned on Islamabad mosque attack in which Azerbaijan, Britain, Iran Russia, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye were among the countries that offered condolences and expressed their support for Pakistan in its efforts to wipe out terrorism.
