Trump Hosts lunch for Field Marshal Asim Munir, Historic meeting in White House
Washington D.C. – Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, concluded a crucial two-hour-long meeting with former U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House. The meeting, held in the Cabinet Room, marks a significant moment in Pakistan-U.S. relations and is being seen as a diplomatic milestone.
President Trump hosted a special luncheon in Field Marshal Munir’s honor, using the occasion to discuss key issues including defense, security cooperation, and regional peace. The lunch provided a high-level platform for dialogue between the two nations.
Field Marshal Munir’s visit didn’t end with the White House meeting. He is also expected to hold important discussions with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth. These meetings aim to address bilateral military cooperation, counterterrorism strategies, and the current security dynamics in the Middle East and South Asia.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, President Trump expressed his appreciation for the interaction. “It was an honor to meet Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir,” he said. Trump added that the U.S. is currently in talks with Pakistan on new trade agreements.
Trump also thanked the Pakistani Army Chief for choosing not to go to war with India. “I invited him for lunch because he stepped back from war with India,” Trump stated, noting the significance of restraint between two nuclear powers.
