Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed his intention to help end the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, stating that efforts are underway and he remains hopeful for a resolution in the near future.
Speaking to the media at the White House, Trump said, “I’ve already stopped eight wars, and now I want to stop the ninth the one between Russia and Ukraine.”
He revealed that he had a “good conversation” with Russian President Vladimir Putin over the phone and is expected to meet him in person within the next two weeks. Trump added that the U.S. Secretary of State is also scheduled to meet his Russian counterpart soon.
Criticizing the Biden administration, Trump remarked, “The wars I stopped were restarted by Biden. He was foolish instead of bringing peace, he fueled conflict.”
Commenting on the hostage situation in Israel, Trump called the recovery of some hostages “fortunate” and noted that, according to his sources, more bodies of hostages were returned today.
He also said that if needed, a U.S backed coalition could eliminate Hamas and emphasized his desire to support Europe in mitigating the effects of the Ukraine war.
“I don’t want World War III to break out,” Trump stressed.
Referencing America’s military strength, he underlined the importance of Tomahawk missiles for national security.
