At least 546 people have died in traffic accidents across Karachi during the first seven months of this year, according to rescue officials.

The data showed that 8,136 people were injured in various road accidents during the same period. Heavy vehicles were involved in crashes that killed 165 people. Among the total fatalities, there were 425 men, 51 women, 51 boys, and 19 girls.

Trailers caused the most deaths among heavy vehicles, killing 62 people. Water tankers were responsible for 37 deaths, dumpers for 32, and buses for 20. Officials have called for stricter enforcement of traffic laws and better road safety measures to reduce the increasing number of deadly accidents in the city.

In a recent tragic incident, a speeding dumper ran over a motorcycle on Rashid Minhas Road in the Federal B Area, killing a 22-year-old woman named Mahnoor and her 14-year-old brother Ahmed Raza, and leaving their father critically injured.

The accident sparked outrage among local residents, who set fire to seven dumpers in the area. Police and Rangers arrived at the scene in large numbers and managed to control the situation. SSP Gulberg confirmed that the dumper driver had been arrested.
