The Howard Stern Show’s future has worried fans as the rumours about its cancellation after being on air for two decades have begun to swirl.

Reports emerged from multiple sources Wednesday, August 6 that the show has been cancelled sending fans into frenzy.

While it remains unclear if these are only rumours or there is truth to these, this is not the first time that news of this sort has spread.

In 2010, Stern had pranked Sal Governale and made him believe that the now 71-year-old was exiting the American radio program.

“I was faced with either go on with the radio show, or maybe make a complete change in my life,” Stern said at the time.

“My wife wants me at home more. I talked to the company, they didn’t want to rearrange my schedule at all. They were inflexible. My hands started to shake and I backed out. I called Sirius last night and I said, ‘I can’t sign this.’ I sadly want to say that I’m going off into the sunset.”

Only when Governale became emotional did Stern reveal that he was joking.

There is no confirmation about the cancellation of the show as Stern hasn’t addressed the rumours yet.

Moreover, the SiriusXM President and the chief content officer also clarified to The Hollywood Reporter in 2024 that the show host didn’t have plans to quit the show.

For the unversed, the host of the show had made his Sirius Satellite Radio (now SiriusXM) debut in 2006 after working as a radio host in the 1980’s.
