Taylor Swift confirms playing another role in her directorial debut
Taylor Swift fans were already thrilled for the popstar’s directorial debut but the recent update excited them even more.
The 35-year-old songstress was rumoured to have brought on Alice Birch as the screenwriter for the feature film, but the rumours were apparently not true.
The Anti-Hero hitmaker is now confirmed to be writing the screenplay herself, which makes her the sole writer and director on the upcoming movie.
An insider close to the movie revealed the special news to E! News, after Searchlight Pictures reportedly began to work on the project.
Swift initially announced the feature film which will mark her directorial debut in 2022 and at the time, the presidents of the company, David Greenbaum and Matthew Greenfield shared their excitement over the collaboration.
“Taylor is a once in a generation artist and storyteller,” they said in a press release then. “It is a genuine joy and privilege to collaborate with her as she embarks on this exciting and new creative journey.”
The Grammy winner has shared her passion to work behind the scenes in several interviews and has directed most of her music videos as well as her All Too Well short film in 2021.
At the screening of the short film starring Sadie Sink and Dylan O’Brien, Swift said, “I think I gave myself permission to completely make that jump into making a narrative short film because this is not a music video; we approached everything differently. You know, in shooting on 35 millimeter and all the decisions that were made to create these characters and dive into this world.”
