Sydney Sweeney’s co-star calls her Glen Powell’s ‘girl’ in interview, reigniting romance rumours

Sydney Sweeney’s ‘Christy’ co-star Katy O’Brian jokingly called her Glen Powell’s “girl,” fuelling fan speculation
Romance rumours surrounding Sydney Sweeney and her Anyone But You co-star Glen Powell resurfaced this week after Christy actress Katy O’Brian referred to Sweeney as Powell’s “girl” during a CinemaBlend interview.
O’Brian, who stars alongside Sweeney in the upcoming biopic Christy, was asked if she and Powell had bonded over both having played Sweeney’s on-screen love interests.
The actress responded with a light-hearted anecdote from filming, revealing she once sent Powell a photo from her boxing training with Sweeney.
“I sent him a picture of Sydney punching me in the face,” O’Brian recalled with a laugh. “I wrote, ‘Tell your girl to stop hitting me in the face.’”
While the comment quickly spread online and reignited speculation about Sweeney and Powell’s relationship, O’Brian clarified that it was a joke exchanged between friends. “It was just fun between two fake love interests,” she said, advising audiences not to read too much into the remark.
Both O’Brian and Sweeney have maintained friendly working relationships with Powell. Sweeney starred opposite him in the 2023 romantic comedy Anyone But You, while O’Brian appeared with the actor in Twisters and the upcoming adaptation of The Running Man.
Sweeney previously addressed the ongoing dating rumours, confirming that she and Powell share a strong professional rapport but are not romantically involved. Powell also responded playfully at the time, suggesting that fans’ speculation might make “great marketing” for their film.
The Christy actress’s offhand comment has nonetheless reignited online discussion, once again blurring the line between on-screen chemistry and real-life friendship.
