Sources claim Rob Reiner, Michele’s son Nick is ‘parent’s worst nightmare’
It is being reported that Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner put all their efforts into helping their troubled son Nick, who was arrested on suspicion of killing his parents on Sunday, December 14, 2025.
An insider told PEOPLE magazine that “they were such a tight-knit family. They did everything together.”
Still, “they could never reach stability with Nick. They tried everything — giving him space, keeping him close — but his struggles are so deep. It’s just a parent’s worst nightmare.”
“They were such lovely people and tried in every way to help their son,” the source claimed.
For those unaware, the late Hollywood actor, director, producer, and screenwriter created classical hit movies such as 1984’s This Is Spinal Tap, 1986’s Stand By Me, 1987’s The Princess Bride, and 1989’s When Harry Met Sally…. However, Rob went off course and produced and directed a 2015 American drama film, Being Charlie, which was co-written by his son Nick.
The movie in which his son, now 32, also played the protagonist, Charlie, helped him see his own problems on a big screen, as it resonated with some of his son’s self-described “dark years” following his drug addiction at a young age.
Nick, who had gone to a rehabilitation center more than 18 times and ended up living on the streets, chatted with the same outlet in 2016 alongside Rob.
The father and son admitted that working together on a movie brought them closer.
“It forced us to look at what each other was going through. Our relationship is better now than it was, and it’s got places to go,” Rob stated at that time.
“I used to harbor a lot of ill will toward them but it’s diminished to almost zero,” Nick confessed.
Almost ten years after his statement, the Misery director and his wife of 36 years, Michele, were discovered dead at their 10,000 sq.ft. home in the Brentwood area in Los Angeles.
In the wake of unthinkable tragedy, many sources told the same outlet that Nick killed his parents, as the deceased couple’s daughter Romy, who lives nearby, found them dead.
It is pertinent to mention that a well-placed source described the situation of Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner’s killing as a “Hollywood horror-scene nightmare.”
