Sombr halts London concert after fan passes out, calls O2 Academy ‘the most poorly managed venue’

Before continuing with the concert, Sombr checked with the audience to ensure the situation had been resolved

Sombr paused a concert in London after noticing a fan in the audience who appeared to faint during his performance, prompting the singer to call on venue staff to respond to the situation.

The incident occurred during his show on Tuesday at the O2 Academy Brixton while the artist was performing his Billboard Hot 100 breakthrough single “Back to Friends”. Midway through the song, the Gen Z pop singer signalled to his band to stop playing so he could address staff at the venue.

“Stop the show,” he said before pointing out the situation in the crowd. “Guys, there’s someone passed out over there.”

Videos shared on social media show the performer addressing staff members directly as the music halted and attention shifted to the area of the audience where the fan appeared to require assistance.

“This is the most poorly managed venue I’ve ever played at in my life,” he continued. “You need to pay attention. It’s insane. I’ve played three nights here, and I’ve never played at a more poorly managed venue.”

Before continuing with the concert, Sombr checked with the audience to ensure the situation had been resolved. “Let me know when everyone’s good,” he told the crowd.

Representatives for Sombr and the O2 Academy Brixton have been contacted for comment regarding the incident.

The New York-born performer is currently touring across Europe, with upcoming shows scheduled in Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow and Dublin. Later this year he is also due to appear at major festivals including Coachella and BottleRock Napa Valley.

Despite the disruption during his Brixton show, Sombr later shared a message of appreciation to fans in London. “I love you so much,” he wrote over a video of the crowd on Instagram Story. “Thanks so much for an unforgettable past 3 nights. I’ll be back London.”
