The Sindh School Education and Literacy Department has extended the revised winter school timings across the province until February 4 due to the ongoing cold wave. Under the current schedule, all public and private schools will continue to start classes at 9am, while closing times will remain unchanged.
The revised timings were first announced on January 10, when schools were directed to delay opening hours because of the cold weather. In an official notification issued on Sunday, the department said the decision to continue the timings was taken in view of the prevailing weather conditions.
A spokesperson for the education department said the move was approved on the instructions of Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah, as cold conditions have intensified in different parts of the province. Earlier, the department had extended the winter timings until January 26.
