SHC grants Acting Governor access to Main Office at Governor House

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday has permitted Acting Governor Sindh, Awais Qadir Shah, to enter the main office of the Governor House.

The court took up the matter after Awais Qadir Shah filed a petition against Kamran Tessori, accusing him of taking the keys to the Governor House offices. The petition was admitted for an urgent hearing.

During the hearing, the Sindh High Court allowed the acting governor to enter the Main Office of the Governor House Sindh and said that the Principal Secretary should not stop access to the acting governor.

In addition, the court sought report from the Principal Secretary for June 23 and directed that a copy of the court be sent to the President and the Principal Secretary.

Earleir, Acting Governor of Sindh, Awais Qadir Shah, had announced to appraoch court against Kamran Tessori for allegedly taking the keys of the Governor House with him.

Awais Qadir Shah said that a high-level meeting on Muharram security arrangements was scheduled today at the Governor House. However, staff informed him that Kamran Tessori had taken the keys to several Governor House offices upon leaving.

The Acting Governor stated, “This is a constitutional office, not a personal drawing room. Such behavior is unbecoming of Kamran Tessori.”

Awais Qadir Shah stated that police officials have already arrived at the Governor House, and the Interior Minister is also on his way from Islamabad. He warned that if today’s meeting cannot be held, he will take the matter to court against Kamran Tessori.

He further alleged that Kamran Tessori has previously taken the office keys abroad on multiple occasions. “If individuals holding constitutional offices begin to act in this manner, what message are we sending to others? Such a mindset is truly regrettable,” he added.
