Birmingham: Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has been dubbed “The Lion King” by social media users after a viral photo showed him calmly watching from the dressing room balcony as the Indian team walked off the field.
India’s refusal to play against Pakistan in the semi-final of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) resulted in a walkover, sending Pakistan directly to the final.
The image, which has been widely circulated, captures Afridi standing with a serene and regal posture in the pavilion. Fans were quick to draw a comparison to the famous Disney character, calling him “The Lion King” for his calm demeanor amidst the controversy.
Social media users also playfully pointed out that Afridi, the captain of the Pakistan Legends team, managed to lead his team to the WCL final without even having to play a match. The Pakistan team will now face South Africa in the final on August 2nd.
