KARACHI:
A police officer named Taqdeer Azam Afridi, who has been nominated in the murder case of prominent lawyer Khawaja Shamsul Islam Advocate, released a video statement claiming his innocence and calling the case baseless and a result of personal enmity.
Afridi alleges that CCTV footage shows another individual firing the shots, whom he identifies as the real culprit. He claims that the FIR names seven members of his family, all of whom he insists are innocent.
In his statement, he also revealed that well-known cricketer Shahid Afridi had attempted to mediate between Islam and Imran Afridi, resulting in a settlement on 20 March 2025. Under this agreement, Islam agreed to accept blood money (diyat) and withdraw a case filed by Imran Afridi’s father. Despite this, Afridi alleges that Islam continued to pursue legal action against his family.
