Severe weather grounds flights across Pakistan

Islamabad / Lahore / Karachi: Flight operations across various parts of Pakistan have been severely disrupted due to adverse weather conditions, causing delays, diversions, and cancellations.

According to the aviation authorities, the operations at Islamabad and Lahore airports have been badly affected by the bad weather. At Islamabad International Airport alone, the arrival and departure of at least 21 flights have been delayed.

In one notable incident, a flight traveling from Karachi to Islamabad was forced to make an emergency landing in Faisalabad due to poor weather in the capital.

International flights have also been impacted. Flights arriving from Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, Muscat, Baku, and Doha faced difficulties landing in Islamabad, resulting in delays of 1 to 2 hours for their subsequent departures.

Domestic flights are also facing significant delays. A Karachi to Lahore flight has been delayed by 4 hours and 30 minutes and is now scheduled to depart at 12:30 PM. Meanwhile, a private airline’s flight from Karachi to Islamabad has already been delayed by 2 hours.

Lahore Airport has not been spared either. Two flights from Kuala Lumpur to Lahore have been canceled, while seven other flights to and from Lahore, both domestic and international—have been delayed by 1 to 9.5 hours.
