Karachi: Strict security measures have been implemented for the main Muharram processions.
According to the Additional IG Javed Alam Odho, 5,543 officers and personnel will be on duty during the main 8th Muharram procession, while senior police officials and other staff are actively monitoring the routes and pathways of the procession.
Additionally, 586 NGOs, 4,957 head constables, and other police personnel have been deployed for security.
Specialized police squads have been stationed around the procession routes and different pathways, and traffic police are actively managing traffic flow.
Karachi police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious or unusual activity immediately by calling the emergency helpline 15.
Furthermore, shops and markets along the procession routes have been sealed, and containers have been placed on MA Jinnah Road, Saddar, Empress Market, Preedy Street, and Kharadar to block the streets.
The procession will commence from Nishtar Park and will proceed along designated routes, culminating at the Hussainia Iranian Imam Bargah. Heavy police presence has been deployed to ensure the procession is conducted peacefully and securely.
