Schools to remain closed on Fridays

As per the official notification, both public and private schools will now operate from Monday to Thursday.

Lahore: The Punjab Education Department has decided that all schools in the province will remain closed on Fridays.

As per the official notification, both public and private schools will now operate from Monday to Thursday, with Friday observed as a weekly holiday.

This change comes after educational institutions reopened on April 1, following a 22-day closure from March 10 to March 31. The shutdown was part of federal measures aimed at reducing fuel consumption amid rising global oil prices linked to the ongoing US-Israel conflict with Iran.

During the closure period, schools continued academic activities through online classes, while exams were conducted according to schedule.

Under the revised timetable, school hours from Monday to Thursday will be 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM. In double-shift schools, the morning shift will run from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM, and the afternoon shift from 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM.

Meanwhile, the Sindh government also reopened educational institutions on April 1. Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon confirmed that in-person classes have resumed across the province.
