Russian strikes kill 22 after Trump shortens ceasefire deadline

Some 22 people were killed across Ukraine overnight

Ukrainian authorities reported that Russian attacks resulted in the deaths of at least 22 individuals and left 80 others injured during the night.

Approximately 17 inmates lost their lives when Russia dropped 8 FAB bombs on a prison in Zaporizhzhia, while additional fatalities occurred in other assaults on Velykomykhaylivska and Kamyanske.

The attacks occurred shortly after Donald Trump set a new deadline of “around 10 or 20 days” to resolve the conflict or encounter severe sanctions.

“All I know is we’d have a good talk… and all of a sudden missiles are flying into Kyiv,” Mr Trump said at his golf course in Turnberry, Scotland. “This has happened on too many occasions, I don’t like it.”

Ukraine is attempting to withstand Russia’s summer assault, which has made new progress into regions mostly untouched since the offensive began in 2022.

During the weekend, the Russian military announced that its troops had “freed” the village of Maliyevka in Dnipropetrovsk, weeks after capturing the initial settlement in the area.
