Rosalía speaks out after being criticised by Miguel Adrover for being silent on Palestine

Rosalía has addressed growing backlash over her silence on the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, following public criticism from Spanish designer Miguel Adrover.
The singer posted a statement to Instagram Stories, saying that while she has not spoken in the way others expect, she condemns the violence and loss of life in Palestine.
“The fact that I have not used my platform in line with other people’s style or expectations does not mean that I do not condemn what is happening in Palestine,” she wrote. “It is terrible to see innocent people being killed day after day, and those who should stop this are not doing so.”
Her comments follow Adrover’s refusal to collaborate on a custom project, citing her “silence” as his reason. In a social media post, the designer shared that “silence is complicity,” especially for public figures with large platforms.
He published a screenshot of a conversation with Rosalía’s team, confirming he declined the collaboration because she had not voiced public support for Palestine.
In response, Rosalía criticised the culture of personal condemnation. “I do not see how shaming each other is the best way to move forward in the fight for Palestinian freedom,” she wrote. “The finger should be pointed upwards (towards those who make decisions and have the power to act) and not horizontally (between us).”
She also acknowledged her own contradictions and praised NGOs, journalists, and volunteers working on the ground. While she had previously shared a post in October 2023 about Gaza, this marks her most direct public statement on the issue.
