Chinese President issues strong warning to U.S: “Respect the World or Learn a Harsh Lesson”
Beijing: Chinese President Xi Jinping has issued a strong warning to the United States, saying it must respect the world, or it will learn a lesson. The same one that all fading empires have eventually faced.
In a message posted on X (formerly Twitter), President Xi highlighted the rise and fall of past global powers to make his point.
He wrote that a hundred years ago, the British Empire dominated global trade and controlled more than 20% of the world’s wealth. Many believed the sun would never set on the British Empire.
Going further back, he noted that 200 years ago, France was a dominant force in Europe. Its military was feared, its culture admired, and Napoleon considered himself immortal.
Xi also mentioned that 400 years ago, the Spanish crown ruled vast territories from Manila to Mexico. Spain’s ships were filled with silver and silk, and its kings believed their glory would last forever.
The Chinese president said all these empires once saw themselves as irreplaceable, but all eventually declined. “Power fades, influence shifts,” he added.
President Xi concluded his message with a clear warning: “If America fails to respect the world, it will learn the same lesson that every declining empire learned—too late.”
“Remember,” he wrote, “the world always moves forward.”
