Mean Girls and Diary of a Wimpy Kid fans were left in frenzy as the unexpected crossover between Regina George and Rodrick Hefley took over social media by storm.

Few days ago on TiKTok, several fan edits featuring a blend of clips from the Dairy of a Wimpy Kid movies and Mean Girls, depicting Rodrick and Regina as a rom-com couple, began circulating online.

Since then, fans of both franchises have been swooning over the unlikely pairing, creating more edits and fan-made storylines.

Many users on X (formerly Twitter) have shared their reactions to the viral ship, with one fan writing, “Ship so good they’re not even in the same universe.”

Another commented, “Mean popular girl & the loser ship I will always love u.” 

One user pointed out that similar crossover relationships have gone viral before, noting, “TikTok fyp keeps showing me Rodrick Hefley x Regina George edits and they’re edited kinda like Jake & Elsa edits from a decade ago and it f—king awesome. Like I truly see the vision.”

A third fan wrote, “Rodrick Hefley & Regina George saved 2025.”

Meanwhile, another user on X penned a romantic plot for the fictional couple, “Rodrina secretly dated then broke up in their senior year. After some time, the Regina is engaged and Rodrick is divorced and yearning for his high school sweet heart.”

Mean Girls plot

The 2004 hit TV series follows Cady Heron (Lidsay Lohan), a home-schooled teenager who enters public high school for the first time. She is warned to stay away from trio of wealthy, popular girls known as ‘the Plastics’ , led by Regina Geroge (Rachel McAdams) alongside Gretchen Wieners (Lacey Chabert) and Karen Smith (Amanda Seyfried).

Dairy of a Wimpy Kid synopsis

Story centres on Greg Hefley (Zachary Gordon), who is in his early teens and starting his middle school, which is not an enjoyable experience for him. On top of that he is bullied and used as a scapegoat by his mean elder brother Rodrick Hefley (Devon Bostick).
