Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston get involved in intense confrontation

The Morning Show, things are getting complicated on the series.
In a clip shared by PEOPLE from the upcoming Wednesday, Oct. 15 episode of the Apple TV+ drama, tensions rise between Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston’s characters as a shocking confession changes everything.
The clip opens with Bradley (Witherspoon) arriving at Alex’s (Aniston) apartment to discuss her contract with UBN. But it quickly becomes clear that business isn’t her real focus.
“I can’t sign a contract extension right now. I don’t wanna get involved in all this Chris stuff,” Bradley says. “Not to mention, I feel like you didn’t really want me here in the first place.”
Alex surprises her with an unexpected response.
“Well, no, no — but the extension is my idea,” she says. A confused Bradley asks, “Really? Why?” Alex replies with a mix of sarcasm and sincerity, “Because, clearly, I’m a masochist, and even though you’re a huge pain in the ass, I really — I believe in you.”
But before Alex can process the moment, Bradley drops a bombshell, “Well, maybe you shouldn’t. I slept with Cory.”
The revelation leaves Alex speechless. When Bradley insists, “It just happened,” Alex fires back, “Yeah, just like an oops?” Bradley explains, “I was a mess. And he seemed safe.”
That only makes Alex more stunned. “Cory Ellison? Seemed safe? Like an open elevator shaft kind of safe?” she replies, summing up the audience’s disbelief.
The romantic twist between Bradley and Cory (played by Billy Crudup) has been a long time coming.
Their connection finally crossed the line in the season’s third episode, which premiered on Oct. 1. Crudup previously hinted to PEOPLE that “this season, maybe the boundaries evaporate a little bit,” after years of building tension between the two characters.
“It’s incredible to have a character arc that is such a slow burn,” he said, adding that the chemistry has been building “for four years, or seven years, since we’ve been doing it.”
Witherspoon also opened up about the development in a conversation with TVLine, admitting she was “surprised” by Bradley’s decision but understood the deeper reasoning behind it.
“Of course, in true Morning Show style, we finally get this moment between Cory and Bradley. But Bradley’s really, behind the scenes, taking advantage of him,” she said.
She added, “I think it’s so interesting, too, their dynamic. I can’t even make heads or tails of it sometimes — why they’re so enmeshed.”
New episodes of The Morning Show stream Wednesdays on Apple TV+, and with revelations like this, the drama is only heating up.
