Good news for Electricity users: Power prices reduced across Pakistan
Islamabad: There’s some great news for electricity users across Pakistan! The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved a reduction in power prices, which will bring financial relief to millions of people.
NEPRA has approved a Rs 1.89 per unit cut in electricity prices under the quarterly adjustment for April to June 2025. This proposal has now been sent to the federal government for final approval and implementation.
The reduced rates will apply from August to October 2025 and will benefit consumers of all distribution companies (DISCOs), including K-Electric. However, lifeline and prepaid users will not be eligible for this relief.
This decision is expected to provide a total relief of Rs 55.87 billion to power users across the country.
Earlier, electricity companies had requested NEPRA to reduce prices under the quarterly adjustment. A hearing on the request was held on August 4, 2025.
In addition, NEPRA has also issued a notification for a 78 paisa per unit decrease in electricity prices under the monthly fuel adjustment for June 2025. However, this relief will not apply to Karachi consumers.
People in other parts of the country will see the benefit of the monthly reduction in their August electricity bills.
