Porsche 2025 holiday campaign gains attention by using handcrafted animation over AI tools

The campaign features a short animated film created in collaboration with Parallel Studios in Paris

Porsche’s 2025 holiday campaign has gained widespread attention by deliberately moving away from artificial intelligence and focusing instead on handcrafted animation and audience participation.

Released in December, the campaign centres on a short animated film titled The Coded Love Letter, created in collaboration with Parallel Studios in Paris.

The film doubles as an interactive quiz, inviting viewers to identify eight hidden references drawn from Porsche’s design and racing history, including its first licence plate and well-known motorsport details such as the Pink Pig livery.

The campaign was distributed primarily through Porsche’s social media channels, where viewers were encouraged to share their discoveries and challenge others to spot the coded elements.

The animation uses a deliberately tactile 3D style, with subtle imperfections in movement and texture giving the visuals a handmade quality. Each reference is designed to reveal itself only through careful viewing, encouraging audiences to pause, replay and examine the film more closely.

Engagement has been strong, with the Instagram version alone surpassing 10 million views and attracting more than 432,000 likes. Fans have actively compared notes on the hidden details, helping the campaign spread organically.
