Pope Leo stands firm on peace message amid Trump criticism

VATICAN CITY: The head of the Catholic Church, Pope Leo, has responded to criticism from US President Donald Trump, reaffirming his commitment to advocating against war and promoting peace.

The remarks came after Donald Trump strongly criticized the Pope over his antiwar statements, describing him as “weak” on crime and “terrible” on foreign policy in a post shared on social media.

In response, Pope Leo said he would continue to raise his voice against war despite the criticism.

Speaking to journalists aboard a special flight en route to Algeria, he emphasized that he does not wish to engage in a debate but remains committed to promoting peace, dialogue, and multilateral cooperation among nations.

He further stated that too many innocent lives are being lost, adding that “someone must stand up and say there is a better way,” underscoring his stance on peaceful conflict resolution.
