
PM Shehbaz inaugurates Lahore-Karachi Business Train with European-Style comfort
LAHORE: Pakistan Railways marked a major milestone this week as Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif officially launched the Lahore to Karachi Business Train at a special ceremony held at the Lahore Railway Station.
Top government officials, railway authorities, and media representatives attended the event. During the visit, Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi gave the Prime Minister a detailed briefing on the new train’s features and the broader progress within Pakistan Railways.
He highlighted the European-style upgrades on the newly launched Business Train, including world-class seating, state-of-the-art kitchens and dining facilities, and enhanced passenger services aimed at matching international standards.

Pakistan Railways Reports Record Profits:
Abbasi also shared some impressive financial news—Pakistan Railways earned a profit of Rs. 93 billion in the previous fiscal year. Building on this momentum, he announced an ambitious plan to launch a bullet train between Lahore and Rawalpindi** in partnership with the Punjab Government.

While touring the upgraded Lahore Railway Station, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed genuine satisfaction with the improvements. He praised the digitization of the ticketing system, calling the shift away from outdated methods a major step forward.
“I’m pleasantly surprised by the transformation of this station,” he said. “Upgrading the Pakistan Business Express to match European standards is a commendable achievement, and I applaud the leadership of Pakistan Railways for their hard work.”
