Petroleum prices in Pakistan are expected to increase by up to Rs5.50 per litre for the next 15 days due to a rise in global oil prices, according to sources on Sunday.

Reports say that the Oil Companies Advisory Council has prepared a working paper based on the recent trends in international oil markets.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority is expected to send its price recommendation summary to the federal government today.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will make the final decision on the new fuel prices after reviewing OGRA’s suggestions. Once approved, the new prices will be put into effect.

According to the proposed summary, the price of high-speed diesel might increase by Rs5.27 per litre, while petrol could go up by Rs1.12 per litre. Kerosene may see a rise of Rs4.16 per litre, and light diesel oil could increase by Rs4.13 per litre.
