
LAHORE: The Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a flood advisory in anticipation of rising water levels in rivers due to another spell of monsoon rains.
According to a PDMA spokesperson, the seventh spell of monsoon showers is expected to begin on August 13, raising the risk of increased water flow in Punjab’s rivers.
Authorities have urged relevant departments to remain on alert and take precautionary measures to minimize potential damage.
According to the PDMA, the rains are likely to cause flood situation in the river Sutlej, Ravi, Chenab, Jhelum and adjoining rivers.
Commissioners, deputy commissioners and concerned departments have been instructed to remain alert.
Director General PDMA Punjab Irfan Ali Kathia said the withdrawal of houses and livestock in the rivers’ pats should be ensured, bathing in rivers, canals, rivers and ponds is banned, contact PDMA helpline 1129 in case of urban emergency.
