Paul Feig ‘devastated’ over ‘hero’ Rob Reiner’s death

Director Paul Feig is mourning Rob Reiner after his gruesome murder.

“I was lucky enough to get to sit next to Rob about 10 years ago at a dinner party, and we talked for hours, and he was always one of my heroes,” Feig told Variety at the premiere of his new film The Housemaid.

“He’s one of my directing heroes on top of being one of my acting heroes. Then in the last year we reconnected and I moderated a bunch of panels for him, [like] ‘Spinal Tap,’ and we did a panel at Comic-Con together and I just loved the man so much,” he continued.

Reiner and his wife Michelle Singer Reiner were found dead with their throats slit on Sunday in their Los Angeles home. Their son Nick, 32, has been charged with double homicide and arrested.

“[Rob] and Michelle were so wonderful and I’m just absolutely devastated by it,” Feig remarked.

“His movies will stand the test of time. I wish I could have hits that he had and that kind of longevity,” he added, listing This Is Spinal Tap, Misery and When Harry Met Sally.

“I invited Rob to the premiere tonight because he did ‘Misery,’ a comedy guy who took on a thriller and made an iconic thriller. I was saying to Rob, ‘You inspired me to do this,'” he shared.

Rob and Michele Reiner were found by their daughter Romy, who called the Los Angeles Fire Department.
