Pakistani cricketer Haider Ali suspended by PCB after arrest in UK

Karachi: Pakistani cricketer Haider Ali has been suspended by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) following his arrest and subsequent release on bail in Manchester on suspicion of alleged rape. The incident reportedly occurred during the Pakistan Shaheens cricket team’s recent tour of England.

According to the PCB, the national team’s batsman is a subject of investigation by Manchester police in a criminal case, which has led to his immediate suspension.

The board stated that it will provide legal assistance to the cricketer to ensure his rights are protected. Haider Ali will remain suspended until the legal proceedings are concluded, at which point the PCB will consider further disciplinary action.

Details from sources indicate that Haider Ali was arrested by Greater Manchester Police three days ago. He has since been released on bail but has been ordered to return to the police station in two weeks. A key condition of his bail is that he is prohibited from leaving the UK until the case is cleared.

The cricketer has denied the allegations against him. The PCB has stated that it will not release any further details about the case until the legal process is complete.
