ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Monday marched into the final of the AVC Nations Cup Volleyball with a stunning straight set win over highly-ranked Qatar in the semi-finals in Manama (Bahrain) Monday.
The set scores were 25-22, 25-22, 25-21, reflecting Pakistan’s composure, strategy, and dominance throughout the match. Against all odds Pakistan put up a spirited performance to beat Qatar team that comprises mostly of the different origins.
This victory holds special significance as Pakistan avenged their 2024 AVC Challenge Cup final defeat to Qatar, where they finished with the silver medal. On Monday in front of a sufficient crowd, Pakistan showed exceptional improvement, maturity, and tactical superiority to overcome a strong Qatar side.
Pakistan started strong, executing quick attacks and tight defense that kept Qatari side under pressure from the first whistle. Each set was a closely-contested one, but Pakistan held their nerves in the crucial points, showcasing exceptional teamwork and mental strength.
Ace player Usman Faryad Ali turned out to be a dominant force at the net, contributing crucial blocks and quick spikes. Murad Jehan as usual led from the front with an impressive control of the net. Once again with his all-round play and tactical awareness he helped the team execute plans well.
Murad Khan played a key role in offensive strikes and maintaining team momentum. Fahad Raza orchestrated the game brilliantly with precise setting and court control. Their collective efforts were instrumental in sealing Pakistan’s historic win and ensuring a place in the championship final.
With this victory, Pakistan has not only qualified for the AVC Nations Cup final but also reaffirmed its status as one of the rising powers in Asian volleyball.
