The misleading reports, which gained traction on platforms like X (formerly Twitter), were designed to create confusion and undermine Pakistan’s regional diplomatic posture. Officials clarified that while the border is fully functional, the movement of goods has temporarily declined due to the current security situation inside Iran. Additionally, the flow of Zaireen—Pakistani pilgrims traveling to Iran—has been paused, not because of a border closure, but as a precautionary measure. Some pilgrims and visitors already in Iran are returning home, and there is no unusual or abnormal activity taking place at the border.
Islamabad emphasized that its decisions regarding border movement and regional engagement are based on national security assessments. These are not influenced by any external pressures or sectarian narratives. Pakistan remains committed to peace and constructive dialogue in the region.
Officials also called on media outlets and social media users to report responsibly and verify information before sharing. They warned that spreading falsehoods only aids hostile agendas and threatens the stability of the region.
