ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday reiterated Pakistan’s willingness to hold meaningful dialogue with India to resolve all outstanding issues.

He made the remarks during a meeting with British High Commissioner Jane Marriott at the Prime Minister’s House, according to a statement issued by the PM Office.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Sharif expressed satisfaction over the positive momentum in Pakistan-UK relations. He highlighted the recent trade talks between the two countries, noting they would open new, mutually beneficial opportunities.

He also welcomed the UK government’s decision to resume Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flights to and from the United Kingdom—a move he said would ease travel challenges for the British Pakistani community and strengthen people-to-people ties. The prime minister praised High Commissioner Marriott for her efforts in facilitating the decision.

Touching on international cooperation, he said Pakistan is actively working with the UK at the UN Security Council, where it currently holds the monthly presidency.

Sharif also appreciated the UK’s diplomatic efforts during past escalations between Pakistan and India and once again emphasized Pakistan’s readiness to engage in a constructive dialogue with India.

He extended warm wishes to King Charles III and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and expressed hope for a meeting with British leadership later this year.

In response, High Commissioner Marriott thanked the prime minister for the meeting and briefed him on her recent consultations in London aimed at enhancing Pakistan-UK–UK ties. She commended the government’s progress under Sharif’s leadership, noting significant improvements in macroeconomic indicators.

She also shared insights on regional developments in South Asia and the Middle East from the UK’s perspective.
