
Florida: Pakistan kicked off their three-match T20I series against the West Indies with a 14-run victory in the opening encounter held in Lauderhill, Florida.
West Indies captain Shai Hope won the toss and elected to field first. Pakistan, batting first, posted a competitive total of 178 for 6 in their allotted 20 overs.
Opener Saim Ayub led the charge with an impressive 57-run knock, while Fakhar Zaman contributed 28 runs to the total.
Meanwhile, Hassan Nawaz scored 24 runs while Fahim Ashraf scored 16 and Sahibzada Farhan scored 14. Captain Salman Ali Agha 11 and Mohammad Harris were unbeaten with 6 runs.
West Indies’ Shamar Joseph took 3 wickets while holders, Aqeel Hussain and Shepherd took one each.
In reply, the West Indian team scored 164 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.
Pakistan’s Mohammad Nawaz took 3, Saim Ayub 2 and Shaheen Afridi and Sufiyan Muqeem took one wicket each.
For the first T20 against the West Indies, the Pakistan team included Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Fakhr Zaman, Mohammad Harris (wicketkeeper), Salman Ali Agha (captain).
Hassan Nawaz, Mohammad Nawaz, Fahim Ashraf, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf and Sufyan resident were also part of the playing XI.
