Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu has paid an important official visit to the United States, during which new developments have taken place in Pakistan-US defence cooperation.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu recently undertook a historic official visit to the US, which was the first visit by a serving Air Chief in the last decade.

ISPR stated that this high-level visit is being seen as a strategic milestone in Pakistan-US defence relations.

According to the military’s spokesperson, the purpose of the visit was to further strengthen defence cooperation between the two countries, promote institutional linkages, and ensure meaningful dialogue on key regional and global security issues.

According to the ISPR, during the visit, the Air Chief held important meetings with the US military and political leadership, which included Secretary of the Air Force for International Affairs Kelli L. Seybolt and US Air Force Chief of Staff General David W. Allvin at the Pentagon.

In these meetings, discussions were held on bilateral military cooperation, joint training, technology exchanges, and improving integration between the two air forces.

According to the ISPR, the Air Chief highlighted the long-standing and multifaceted relations between Pakistan and the United States, especially their cooperation in the fields of defence and security.

He reaffirmed the Pakistan Air Force’s commitment, saying that joint exercises, training, and exchange programmes between the two air forces will be further strengthened and carried forward in a more effective manner.

The ISPR spokesperson also said that the Air Chief held meetings at the State Department with Brown L. Stanley from the Bureau of Political-Military Affairs and Mr. Eric Meyer from the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs.

In these meetings, Pakistan’s stance on the South and Central Asian geopolitical situation, its role in regional stability, and its sacrifices in the fight against terrorism were highlighted.

During meetings on Capitol Hill with Congressmen Mike Turner, Rich McCormick, and Bill Huizenga, detailed discussions were held on Pakistan’s strategic challenges, regional security, and technological cooperation.

The ISPR further stated that the Air Chief’s visit was a clear message about giving a new direction to Pakistan-US relations, building trust in military ties, and making joint efforts for lasting peace in the region.
