Ozzy Osbourne has been laid to rest in a deeply personal and private ceremony held at his family estate in Buckinghamshire, England, just one week after his passing at age 76.

The legendary rocker’s funeral took place on Thursday, with close friends and fellow musicians, Page Six reports, including Zakk Wylde, Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie, and Slipknot’s Corey Taylor gathering to pay their respects to the Prince of Darkness.

The ceremony was held at the home Ozzy shared with his wife, Sharon Osbourne, and reflected the singer’s wishes as outlined in his 2009 autobiography, I Am Ozzy.

In the book, he had clearly stated he did not want to be cremated.

“I want to be put in the ground in a nice garden somewhere with a tree planted over my head,” he wrote. Fulfilling that vision, a massive floral tribute was erected by the lake on his property, which now serves as his final resting place.

Ozzy passed away on July 22, following what were reported as extensive efforts by paramedics to save his life.

He is survived by Sharon, their three children—Aimee, Kelly, and Jack—and his children from a previous marriage, Elliot Kingsley, Jessica Osbourne, and Louis Osbourne.

Before his funeral, the late icon was honoured in his hometown with a public procession through Birmingham’s Broad Street.

The emotional tribute drew fans and admirers who gathered to celebrate the legacy of the man who helped shape heavy metal music with Black Sabbath.

Throughout his career, and even when discussing death, Ozzy remained true to his unique sense of humour. In a past column for The Times, he said he didn’t want people “harping on the bad times” during his funeral and instead hoped for it to be “a celebration.”

He even joked about adding pranks like “the sound of knocking inside the coffin” or a video of him “asking my doctor for a second opinion on his diagnosis of ‘death.’”
