Officer suspended for ‘beating’ peon

ISLAMABAD:

Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture, Aurangzeb Khan Khichi, on Friday suspended a senior officer of the ministry over allegations of verbal abuse and physical assault against a junior staff member.

Informed sources said that the staff member identified as Ibrahim and currently serving in the office of the federal secretary — was preparing tea for fellow employees in the minister’s office. He reportedly accessed supplies from the minister’s private kitchen after unlocking it.

During this time, Director Bilal confronted him, alleging that items including tea supplies had been disappearing from the minister’s kitchen over the past three months, and demanded to know who was responsible. Ibrahim denied the accusation, stating it was baseless.

Director Bilal then allegedly responded with abusive language and proceeded to physically assault him.
