Both parties should resolve their issues at the negotiating table.
Pakistan has urged the international community to intensify diplomatic efforts to end the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, warning that the war’s repercussions are deepening across the region.
Addressing a session of the UN Security Council, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, stressed that there is “no military solution” to the crisis.
“The Russia-Ukraine war is having deep effects on the region,” Ambassador Iftikhar said in his remarks. He emphasized that military means cannot resolve the conflict, reiterating Pakistan’s belief that only a negotiated settlement can pave the way for lasting peace.
“We firmly believe that military means cannot resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict,” he told the 15-member Council. “The only viable path towards sustainable peace is that of dialogue and diplomacy.”
The ambassador urged both Moscow and Kyiv to return to negotiations and pursue a ceasefire that could lead to durable peace. “Both parties should resolve their issues at the negotiating table,” he said, calling for renewed diplomatic engagement.
Reaffirming Islamabad’s longstanding position on peaceful dispute resolution, he added: “Pakistan supports resolving conflicts through dialogue and diplomacy.”
Pakistan’s intervention comes as the conflict continues to escalate, raising global concerns about regional stability, humanitarian fallout, and broader geopolitical consequences.
