NEPRA approves relief for consumers.
Islamabad: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved a reduction of Rs1.50 per unit in the basic electricity tariff, providing relief to consumers across the country.
The revised average tariff for power distribution companies will now be set at Rs34 per unit. NEPRA has forwarded its decision to the federal government for official notification, which will be issued once the government decides on subsidies.
Previously, NEPRA reduced K-Electric’s (KE) tariff by Rs2.99 per unit under the monthly fuel adjustment for March.
This reduction will be reflected in the June electricity bills, offering some relief to KE consumers amid rising power costs and ongoing load-shedding in Karachi.
Yesterday, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) held a hearing on the tariff review petitions of seven Independent Power Producers (IPPs).
