Murree snowfall update amid new weather system

Murree has once again turned into a beautiful winter destination after a fresh spell of snowfall covered the hill station, with up to four inches of snow recorded, adding to the charm of Malka-e-Kohsar.

The snowfall continued until late at night, creating a scenic view for tourists, and later changed into intermittent rain. Despite the snowfall, normal life in Murree continues without disruption.

District Police Officer Murree, Dr. Muhammad Raza Tanveer Sapra, said that all roads and entry points to the hill station are fully open for traffic and tourists can travel without concern. No roads have been closed and traffic is moving smoothly across the area. He said light snowfall continued at intervals during the night and was followed by rain, which increased the cold weather.

The temperature dropped to three degrees Celsius while around four inches of snow had already accumulated. Soon after the snowfall, the district administration and traffic police cleared the roads to avoid any inconvenience.

Authorities confirmed that all major highways and inner roads in Murree are operational, and there have been no reports of vehicles getting stuck or tourists facing difficulties. Traffic is continuing normally, showing the administration’s preparedness and quick response.

The DPO advised tourists to remain careful as dense fog and sudden weather changes may reduce visibility. Drivers have been urged to use fog lights, avoid over speeding and overtaking, and keep a safe distance between vehicles due to slippery road conditions. He added that traffic police, district police, and administrative teams are present on roads to assist tourists, and in case of any emergency, visitors should contact Emergency Helpline 15 or the Traffic Police Helpline immediately.
