Muharram 10 (Ashura) observances with processions and mourning gatherings across the country

Mourning procession of !0th Muharram across the country

Karachi/ Lahore/ Rawalpindi: Throughout the country, mourning gatherings and processions are ongoing in observance of Muharram 10 (Ashura), commemorating the unparalleled sacrifice of Prophet Muhammad’s grandson, Imam Hussain (peace be upon him), and his loyal companions.

In Karachi, the main procession of Ashura departed at 10:00 AM from Nishter Park and, passing through designated routes, will conclude at the Hussainia Iranian Imam Bargah in Kharadar.

In Lahore, the central procession emerged from Nisar Haveli inside Mochi Gate and will reach Karbala Gamay Shah in the evening, where it will conclude.

In Quetta, mobile and internet services were suspended during the procession on Alamdar Road, pillion riding is  prohibited.

In Peshawar, all 16 processions of the night of Ashura have concluded.

In Rohri, the traditional nine-flag procession of Muharram reached Karbala Maidan, where mourners will stay overnight and then head to the cemeteries after Dhuhr prayers tomorrow.

In Multan, at 11:00 AM, over 25 processions, including the historic teacher-student tazias, will set out. In Gujranwala, the central procession will depart from Gulistan-e-Marfat Imam Bargah.

In Mithi, the Ashura procession started at 10:00 AM, and in Mirpur Azad Kashmir, the main procession will leave from the central Imam Bargah Baitul Huzn at 11:00 AM.

Security arrangements have been tightened, and mobile services have been suspended at several locations for safety reasons.
