Mishi Khan questions professor on student treatment in class

Lahore: Actress and host Mishi Khan has strongly condemned a viral video showing Dr. Tayyab Chaudhry, an Assistant Professor at a government university in Lahore, allegedly humiliating a student in front of an entire class for not owning a laptop. The incident, which occurred recently, has sparked widespread outrage on social media.

Social media users have slammed the professor’s behavior as unethical and contrary to the spirit of education, expressing strong sympathy for the student.

According to fellow students, the professor not only humiliated the student but also forced him to call his brother, putting the call on loudspeaker to insult the brother in front of all the students.

His peers reported that the incident deeply affected the student, leaving him mentally distressed. Meanwhile, some student circles are emphasizing the need to review teacher behavior. However, the university administration has yet to release any official statement regarding the viral video. As the video continues to draw widespread condemnation from social media users, public figures are also weighing in.

Actress and host Mishi Khan termed the incident “deplorable” and released a video statement on Instagram, sharply criticizing Dr. Tayyab Chaudhry, the Assistant Professor from COMSATS University Lahore.

Mishi Khan voiced her concern, asking how many more students might be enduring humiliation from such “so-called teachers.” She noted that the professor has been working at this government institution since 2015 and publicly shamed a student in front of 50 to 60 classmates just because he didn’t have a laptop.

Reading out the conversation between the student and the professor, Mishi Khan highlighted that even after the student explained his father had passed away last year, the professor allegedly continued his taunts, asking, “Is there no one else earning in your house? Do you have a brother, or has he passed away too?”

According to Mishi Khan, Professor Tayyab Chaudhry then allegedly told other students to collect charity from each other so the student could buy a laptop with “Zakat and charity money.”

Sharply criticizing the professor, Mishi Khan questioned the country’s educational system, stating that this individual, whom she called a “blot on education,” humiliated an orphaned child in front of the entire class. “What kind of educational system is this?” she demanded.
