Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Stanley Tucci narrowly avoid NYC mass shooting

Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Stanley Tucci almost had a deadly run-in with the devil.
On Monday, July 28, the trio was spotted filming a scene for the upcoming Devil Wears Prada sequel in New York City. According to the Daily Mail, the set was located just a 15-minute walk from a Midtown Manhattan office building where a deadly mass shooting occurred — just three hours after filming wrapped.
The gunman has been identified as 27-year-old Shane Tamura. He died on the scene due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Earlier in the day, fans watched and recorded from nearby as Streep, Hathaway, and Tucci filmed what appeared to a be a classic Miranda Priestly, Andy Sachs, and Nigel dynamic; Miranda (Streep) and her right-hand man Nigel (Tucci) stride purposefully out of a building while Andy scrambles to keep up.
In a moment true to form, Andy ends up awkwardly settling into the passenger seat of a waiting car while Miranda and Nigel take the back.
The long-awaited sequel to the 2006 classic was officially announced in July 2024. Filming officially began a year later (earlier this month).
Since then, fan-shot clips and set photos have surfaced across social media,
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is scheduled to hit theatres on May 1, 2026.
