Lady Gaga leads 2025 MTV video Music Awards Nominations

The nominations for the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) were unveiled Tuesday, revealing a highly competitive field of artists across genres.

Pop icon Lady Gaga leads this year’s pack with an impressive 12 nominations, including major categories such as Video of the Year, Artist of the Year, and Best Album.

Close behind, Bruno Mars earned 11 nominations, followed by Kendrick Lamar with 10. Rising global stars ROSÉ and Sabrina Carpenter are tied with eight nominations each, while Ariana Grande and The Weeknd received seven apiece.

Other notable nominees include Billie Eilish with six nods and Charli XCX with five. Artists with four nominations each include Bad Bunny, Doechii, Ed Sheeran, Jelly Roll, Miley Cyrus, and Tate McRae.

Fan voting is now open in 19 categories at vote.mtv.com. Voting closes on Thursday, Sept. 5 at 6 p.m. ET, except for the Best New Artist category, which will remain open until the night of the show.

The 2025 MTV VMAs will air live from UBS Arena in New York on Sunday, Sept. 8 at 8 p.m. ET, broadcasting on CBS and MTV, and streaming on Paramount+.

Superstars Beyoncé and Taylor Swift, both nominated for Artist of the Year, are once again in a high-stakes showdown to claim the record for most VMA wins of all time—a title both have been chasing in recent years.
