John Leguizamo criticises Dean Cain for ICE decision

John Leguizamo didn’t hold back when reacting to Dean Cain’s recent announcement that he plans to join the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) as an agent.

In a video posted to Instagram on Friday, the actor asked, “What kind of loser volunteers to be an ICE officer?” before adding, “What a moron. Dean Cain, your pronouns are has/been.”

Cain, best known for playing Superman in the 1990s TV series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, has recently been back in the spotlight following the release of Warner Bros. and DC Studios’ new Superman film in July.

Before the reboot’s premiere, he had criticized director James Gunn for describing the superhero as an “immigrant” and claimed Hollywood had made the character “woke.”

Speaking on Fox News earlier this week, Cain revealed his decision to move forward with ICE, saying he intends to be “sworn in as an ICE agent, ASAP.”

He described the move as a patriotic duty, explaining, “The U.S. was built on patriots stepping up, whether it was popular or not,” and calling the decision “the right thing” to do.

Leguizamo, known for his outspoken advocacy for Latino representation in entertainment, has long highlighted the lack of visibility for the community in Hollywood.

In a 2020 interview with PEOPLE, he pointed out that Latinos make up almost 20% of the U.S. population and 25% of the box office but are featured in less than 1% of Hollywood and streaming stories.

For him, that absence harms young audiences who don’t get to see themselves reflected in positive ways.
