Karachi: Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, firmly stated that only the state holds the authority to declare jihad not any individual or group.
His remarks came during meetings with various religious and social representatives in Karachi, where he emphasized national unity, religious harmony, and equal rights for all citizens.
Lieutenant General Chaudhry met with leaders from diverse religious and community backgrounds, who warmly welcomed him and expressed strong solidarity. The attendees appreciated the outreach as a positive and constructive initiative.
During his address, DG ISPR reiterated that all religious communities in Pakistan are equal under the Constitution and that national unity is rooted in equality, peace, and mutual respect.
He also alleged that India is actively involved in sponsoring terrorism within Pakistan and emphasized that the Pakistan Army is effectively countering such threats through modern warfare strategies. He condemned all forms of ethnic and linguistic hatred, calling them manifestations of ignorance.
Reaffirming the inclusive vision of Pakistan, General Chaudhry stated that every Pakistani is an equal citizen and that unity among the people ensures the nation’s strength. He concluded by underscoring once again that only the state can legitimately declare jihad not individuals or groups acting on their own.
