Japan lauds Pakistan’s role in facilitating US-Iran talks

Japan has appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts in helping facilitate a ceasefire and talks between the United States and Iran.

The appreciation came during a phone call between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on Monday, according to the Prime Minister’s Office.

During their friendly conversation, both leaders discussed the recent Islamabad talks between the US and Iran, which were hosted by Pakistan. The Japanese prime minister expressed full support for the peace process and highlighted its importance for regional stability and global energy security.

Prime Minister Shehbaz thanked her for the support and said he is grateful to both the US and Iranian delegations for holding detailed discussions in Islamabad. He added that Pakistan will continue its efforts to ensure the ceasefire remains in place.

He also expressed his interest in further strengthening relations between Pakistan and Japan, which was welcomed by the Japanese prime minister. Both leaders agreed to stay in close contact moving forward.
