Washington: President Donald Trump said Wednesday that he would consider allowing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to resume military action in Gaza if Hamas refuses to uphold its end of the ceasefire deal, telling to the international media that Israeli forces could return to the streets “as soon as I say the word.”
Warning for Hamas:
Speaking on the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, Trump emphasized that Hamas must adhere strictly to the current ceasefire agreement. “If Hamas does not comply, Israel has the right to resume fighting,” he said. He further claimed, “The fight will only resume when I tell Israel to do so.”
Trump also stated that the militant group Hamas must be disarmed, warning, “If they are not disarmed, we will do it.” He credited pressure from the U.S. for a reported shift in Iranian support, claiming, “Hamas had Iran’s support, but now even Iran has stepped back.”
Trump claimed credit for preventing multiple global conflicts during his time in office. “I stopped 8 wars in the world,” he said, also mentioning that he had used tariffs as tools for peace: “I stopped 6 wars through tariffs.”
Regarding the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, Trump noted, “We are trying to end the Ukraine war,” and added, “I told the Russian President to end the aggression.”
Trump also referenced rising tensions in South Asia, saying, “Pakistan and India were on the brink of nuclear war,” and claimed that “seven aircraft were shot down in the Pakistan-India war.”
Addressing energy policy and geopolitical alliances, Trump said, “I wasn’t happy that India was buying oil from Russia, but now the matter is resolved.” He also stated, “The Indian Prime Minister assured that he would not buy Russian oil.”
Turning to domestic issues, Trump highlighted the results of a law enforcement initiative, Operation Summer Heat. “Important successes were achieved,” he said. “Crimes were prevented and suspects were arrested.”
Trump contrasted these achievements with crime rates under the Biden administration, claiming, “The law and order situation in Chicago is deteriorating—11 murders occurred last week.” He also said, “In some American cities, the crime situation is worse than war-torn areas.”
“I made Washington the safest city in America,” Trump declared, attributing improvements to his tough stance on crime: “When the people gave us a mandate, we started a war against criminals.”
Trump also addressed what he described as politically motivated legal actions during President Joe Biden’s tenure. “During Biden’s tenure, the Department of Justice took retaliatory actions against me,” he said. “My son Eric Trump was summoned several times for investigations.”
He went further, accusing former Speaker Nancy Pelosi of extreme intent: “Speaker Nancy Pelosi wanted to sentence my son to life imprisonment.”
Trump also expressed confidence in ongoing legal proceedings regarding his tariff policies. “We will win the case against tariffs in the U.S. Supreme Court,” he said, defending the tariffs as essential for national security: “Tariffs are extremely important for our security.”
