Islamabad talks move into second round after initial session

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has made history by hosting high-level talks between the United States and Iran, with Islamabad emerging as a “city of peace” amid ongoing diplomatic efforts following recent ceasefire developments.

The landmark engagement brought together US Vice President JD Vance and Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf in what is being described as the most significant US–Iran dialogue since 1979.

Sources said the first round of discussions has been completed, followed by a tea break before the start of a second round of talks. Early reports suggest that consensus was reached on three key points during the initial phase of negotiations.

Pakistan’s role in facilitating the ceasefire and enabling diplomatic engagement has been widely highlighted, with officials crediting Islamabad for helping shift the focus from conflict to dialogue.

The ongoing talks underscore Pakistan’s emerging position as a mediator in regional diplomacy, as efforts continue to build momentum for long-term peace and stability.
