Islamabad: Islamabad Police has introduced a cutting-edge digital tool aimed at strengthening ride security for commuters in the capital.
The newly launched “Online Taxi Verification App” empowers citizens to verify the legitimacy of taxis before embarking on their journeys, thereby reducing the risk of encounters with unregistered or unauthorized vehicles.
The innovative system allows users to confirm whether a taxi is officially registered with Islamabad Police by simply scanning a QR code displayed on the vehicle.
To access this service, passengers are required to visit the official Islamabad Police website and download the dedicated app. Once installed, the app enables quick scanning of the QR code, providing immediate verification of the vehicle’s registration status in the police database.
This initiative comes at a time when online ride-hailing services and digital bookings are rapidly increasing, underscoring the importance of passenger safety. By facilitating real-time verification, Islamabad Police aims to hold taxi drivers accountable and foster a safer transportation environment.
Islamabad Police Commissioner, Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, emphasized the importance of this development, stating, “Our goal is to ensure that every passenger feels secure when traveling within the city.
This app is a significant step toward building a safer and more trustworthy transportation system.”
Passengers are encouraged to utilize this verification tool before boarding taxis, setting a new standard for security and accountability in Pakistan’s capital.
The initiative reflects Islamabad Police’s commitment to leveraging technology in safeguarding the public and promoting responsible mobility.
